About FinraDex
Ben Williams
Data enthusiast and financial transparency advocate
Hi, I'm Ben Williams, a data enthusiast and financial transparency advocate. After spending years navigating complex government databases to research investment advisors, I built FinraDex to make SEC and FINRA public records accessible to everyone. I believe every investor deserves to know their advisor's background before trusting them with their financial future.
Our Mission
FinraDex exists to democratize access to investment advisor information. The SEC and FINRA maintain extensive public records about registered financial professionals, but navigating their official databases can be challenging for the average consumer.
We aggregate data from the SEC Investment Adviser Public Disclosure (IAPD) database and the FINRA BrokerCheck system into one clean, searchable platform. Our goal is to help consumers make informed decisions by providing easy access to:
- Registration status and credentials of investment advisors
- Firm details including assets under management and advisor rosters
- Disclosure history including complaints and regulatory actions
- Certification and examination records
- Employment history and firm affiliations
Our Data
All data on FinraDex comes from publicly available government sources. We refresh our database monthly from SEC IAPD bulk data files and enrich top advisors weekly using the FINRA BrokerCheck API. For more details about our data sources and methodology, visit our Data Sources page.
Disclaimer
FinraDex is not affiliated with the SEC, FINRA, or any government agency. This is an independent educational resource. We do not provide financial, legal, or investment advice. Always verify information directly with official sources before making financial decisions.
